Seminar-TTC

Introduction

The cosmetics industry has a long-standing and ongoing commitment to replacing animal testing. It has invested in several major initiatives and is one of the key players in developing and raising the profile of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) at international regulatory level as well as encouraging its use in the cosmetics industry.

To increase understanding of these innovative alternative approaches that can be used for safety assessment of cosmetic ingredients and finished products and to grow confidence in them, DGK/IKW and Cosmetics Europe will hold a series of webinars drawing on its ongoing research activities supported under the Long Range Science Strategy (LRSS) programme. Industry experts will be invited to provide an overview of the use of NAMs for safety assessment and some of the recent work in this area.

This first webinar will address concepts such as Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) and inhalation TTC for risk assessment of substances with little or even no experimental data. Furthermore, we will also look into how exposure based waiving can be applied within the skin sensitisation NGRA framework.
